To mark the 100th anniversary of the birth of Józef Gierowski, the precursor of post-war Judaic studies at Polish universities, an online-format conference was organized by the Institute of Jewish Studies, Jagiellonian University on 22.-23.11.2022: “Żydzi polscy w oczach historków – nowe perspektywy” [Polish Jews in the Eyes of Historians – New Perspectives] . During the conference, the aim of which was to reflect methodologically on the state of Jewish research in Poland, Lidia Zessin-Jurek (Unlikely Refuge?), at the invitation of Dr Edyta Gawron, spoke about hitherto untapped avenues of applying refugee studies to the analysis of wartime history of Polish Jews.
